COMMITTED TO OUR COMMUNITY

BHA’s programs are situated throughout the Anthracite Coal Region. It is our goal for our staff and students to leave a positive mark on our community, no matter where they are.

FUNDRAISING

BHA annually fundraises for several organizations, such as Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Shriners Children’s Hospital, Trees for Troops, and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Last year, the organization donated over $10,000 to these worthy causes.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Our organization gives back. Over the past several years, BHA has donated muffins, prepared and baked by students, to Nesquehoning Family Promise, donated 25 pizzas from Verona Pizza House to Lehighton Elderly, assisted local veterans at Lehighton Legion Post 314’s food bank and supply shop, provided supplies and materials to the Carbon County Animal Shelter, participated in the Pennsylvania State Police’s “Operation: Give a Gobbler,” donated food to local food banks during Thanksgiving, provided winter wear and hygiene products to students in need, and volunteered with the Lehighton Downtown Initiative at multiple events, such as their fundraising bingo event. Our impact is growing.

COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT

Our students take part in community improvement projects, such as Earth Day cleanup projects, setting up for Trees in the Park in Lehighton, hosting a mental health fair during Mental Health Awareness Month, and providing a $75,000 kickstart donation to the Lehighton Downtown Initiative in their quest to upgrade a local playground.

EDUCATIONAL COMMITMENT

Starting in 2024, BHA has provided two $1,000 scholarships to two in-house graduates with plans to further their education at a post-secondary institution or a trade school, and provided several $1,000 scholarships to students at local high schools for students entering the education and mental health fields.
